Techniques to reduce stress with Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) tapping

August 19, 2022 by mbhosking

Many people seek alternative solutions, such as EFT tapping. EFT stands for Emotional ..

What is EFT tapping?

EFT tapping has roots in the 1970s when several doctors began stimulating acupressure points to help their patients deal with stress, fear, and phobias.  Many people sought out alternative solutions, such as tapping. EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique, and people use it as a simple technique to help them feel better quickly.

By tapping on the acupressure points, I can guide you through a quick series of steps to help you alleviate anxiety, pain and emotional discomfort. You can use this technique before going into surgery, going on a job interview or before anything that is uncomfortable or causes distress to you.

Does EFT tapping really work?

In a five and a half year study of 5,000 patients seeking anxiety treatment, researchers found that 90% of patients who received EFT tapping therapy had reduced anxiety levels, and 76% had complete relief of symptoms.

On a body-mind connection, evidence shows that these interventions can help relieve stress, depression, anxiety and other psychological disorders. EFT tapping falls into the category of body-centered therapies. I can demonstrate along with you!

These are the steps;

  • While you tap, state your issue over and over. For example, you might repeat “anxious about “surgery” Tap on each point in this order. It is quick, easy and fun once you have done it a few times.
  • Tap on the top, center of your head.
  • Tap on the inside edge of one eyebrow.
  • Tap next to the outside edge of one eye.
  • Tap on the bone underneath one eye.
  • Tap between your nose and your upper lip.
  • Tap between your lower lip and your chin.
  • Tap beneath one collarbone (find the notch beneath the inside edge of the collarbone).
  • Tap under one arm (about 4 inches below the armpit).
  • Stop and see how you feel about your issue.
  • Repeat the steps if needed.
  • Tap until you can give your issue a lower number, or until you feel better.
